What is The Missing Song?

The Missing Song is a rules-lite investigative game where you play a journeying band of musicians on a quest to uncover the whereabouts of a missing carol. The game requires you to restore The Ballad of The Solstice, which has been fragmented and scattered. Uncover the Fragments while evading whatever broke it in the first place.

Focus on managing your mental resources (Vision) and avoiding the rising danger of being compromised or silenced (Exposure). Every Fragment found is a small victory, but every misstep draws the spotlight onto you.

This game is perfect for:

• One-Shot Investigations: Solve a full musical mystery in a short session (1-2 hours).
• Minimalist Prep: Ideal for GMs who want to focus purely on the narrative and the clues.
• Tense Decision Making: Is that critical Fragment worth the risk of being exposed?

Features

• 1d6 Core Mechanic: Quick rolls determine if you find the Fragment or suffer a penalty.
• Rules-lite and plot-lite: You control the narrative. 
• Vision Resource: Track your mental clarity and contacts. Spend Vision for an edge, but run out, and your journey grinds to a halt.
• Exposure Meter: The central tracker for danger. Gain too much Exposure and the game ends for your balladeer.
• Focus: Define your investigator by their specialized Focus (Melody, Harmonies, Orchestration).
